DC X VICE PRESENT – LAST RITES
…A Night at the Funeral Parlor

Vancouver/Toronto (October 2006) - DC and Vice are proud to present a collaborative art show featuring works reflecting everything morbid. Last Rites aims to promote emerging and established artists all while commemorating the sinister holiday that is upon us.
Halloween is about experiences. Historically it was an Irish Gaelic tradition to celebrate Samhain or “End of Summer” which was essentially an agricultural festival. Today it’s an excuse for kids to rot their teeth out with candy and for adults to stage their perverse fantasies without being tagged a creep. For DC and Vice it meant taking all these experiences and asking 21 of the globes hottest young artists to visually interpret them.

The result? A collection of the most distorted, morbid, comical and ominous pieces of works ever to grace our presence. By far, the theme is not linear. But then again nor is Halloween. For some, it’s a time of ritual while for others it’s a time of celebration. For us, it’s a commemoration of our favorite holiday.

For those looking to add something unsettling to their art collection all works will be for sale. In addition, all pieces will be captured in a limited edition bound book, also available at the show for $15.

The show will open in a complimentary setting against the backdrop of funeral parlors in both Vancouver and Toronto.
