Become the mountain, the ocean, the wind as the rhythm and sounds
draw you into the show. Halmang involves a magical process that offers
an experience that will leave you transformed." Participating Teacher
According to local oral tradition, the goddess Halmang - also known as "Granny" - is the creator of Jeju Island in Korea. Performers from the Korean Children's Culture and Arts Center call on audience members to help them re-create this popular folktale, employing everyday items for scenery, props and sound effects. Participants discover that through inventiveness and imagination even the simplest of creations can have wondrous results. A fun show for both Korean-Canadians and those wanting to immerse themselves in a totally Korean theatre experience!
