Brasstronaut
want a copy of our New EP? send a request to edovan@gmail.com. Brasstronaut is the product of an opportunity seized when Bryan and Edo met at a farewell party in Vancouver for a mutual friend who was moving to Tokyo in the fall of 2004. We are voices through trumpets and open Steinways. With one heavy fool on the sustain pedal, Brasstronaut navigates by constellations, and is fueled by dreams of the old world, sadness of the modern metropolis, fjords&rotting rainforests, alpine meadows, elk, whales of all varieties, stroopwaffels, droopjes, and a general obsession for creating and experimenting with new sounds. On-stage, Brasstronaut is 4, with the recent addition of Johnny and Brennan. Old World Lies is a 4 song ep recorded in January 2008. It was built from fragments of marathon improvisational jams, and the help of some of Vancouver Community College's best session musicians. Brasstronaut hosts a monthly series in Vancouver called "Jazz & Perogies". It takes place at the Peanut Gallery and features local and international jazz-experimental-folk-electronic-whateveracts. thanks for listening.
