2005-04-18 : Urban Mixer Events Calendar
|
Can you read me…am I coming in clear…? If this email is messed up, you can always check it out online at http://www.urbanmixer.com/newsletters and drop us a line about the problem. We’re here to serve, and we have to have something to do in the mornings when we're hungover. Here’s your Urban Mixer events calendar for Monday, April 18th, 2005, a personalized list of Vancouver’s hottest events and hippest happenings. Our secret agents are always on the prowl, digging through people's daytimers when they're not looking (sorry Paris...) for hints on what's cool in town so you can have kickass plans for a social week. Drop me a line and let me know what you think…especially if you'd be interested in finding out what's in store for the Urban Mixer and all the cool/insane stuff we're putting together down the line... If you want to be an Urban Mixer Secret Agent, be the first to send us the 411 on a wild and/or wicked happening and win an all-cotton (Raj tested, mother approved) Urban Mixer T-Shirt. Here’s a list of my personal picks for this week, links included. And remember to always surf safe! URBAN MIXERS UNITE TUESDAY ! You know no-one really understands you; you’re complex,
mysterious. You’re an Enigma. PATIO SEASON OPENS THIS THURSDAY NIGHT Yes, patios are now in season, as are many of the people occupying them. Come down to Capones Restaurant and Live Jazz Club and celebrate Vancouver’s most important cultural event: the opening of Patio Season. With two live bands, a classic lounge space, invitation-only guest list, and an outdoor square footage that beats the hell out of your friend’s new Gastown loft, Capones annual Patio Party is destined for greatness. Dress to express and finally get some use out of that poncho, girlfriend! Capones Restaurant and Live Jazz Club: 1141 Hamilton Street off Davie. Details in the right sidebar or below. POP QUIZ: Each week we'll be hitting you with a survey question or perhaps even a whole survey (depending on how much you're all willing to help me out here). This will allow us to collect meaningful information about the overall Urban Mixer movement we can make it all that much better. An example of what NOT to expect... If I saw Paris Hilton on the Seawall walking on the bike side, I would: a) ignore that skanky biotch CALLING ALL EXTREMISTS Well, not all, because we don’t want the attention of the CIA now, do we? Our friend Laszlo needs kayakers (everyone, apparently, needs kayakers), snowboarders, and bikers, all of the extreme variety, to volunteer to flaunt their skills in the commercial he’ll be filming on the 20th and 21st. Contact the artiste himself at spiritwestfilms@shaw.ca. BECAUSE EVEN AN OLSEN TWIN HAS TO EAT Let’s go with a hypothetical for a moment. Suppose you were offered the dinner of your dreams for you and three of your posse, anywhere in BC. Prince Rupert, Atlin, Fanny Bay, even Vancouver or Victoria; the mind boggles, especially after the third Shiraz. While you lay back and daydream about flying in by seaplane or flaunting your Todd Oldham kit on the patio, click on www.wineanddinebcnews.ca and enter their contest to make this very dream come true. Because those poor people at Denny’s are getting a little tired of you, really. HIT THE V SPOT Just because it feels goooooood! The V Spot www.thevspot.ca is a new site launched by a couple of Vancouver hotties looking for places to flaunt their hotiness. They found ‘em, a few hundred of ‘em, and they’ve listed them all on this smashing site, from nightclubs to shoetiques. The events listing runs from now till Britney’s spawn hits remedial kindergarten, so you can set your plans well in advance, and it’s inclusive enough to suit hemp-clad Sandalistas as well as Prada-abusing Fashionistas. As all true divas know, if you and your honey give the V Spot some regular hits, you’re guaranteed to have a good time. TALK TO ME, BABY! Email comments to raj@urbanmixer.com Get the very latest on the Vancouver scene by checking out our calendar of events here. Or pick and click a day of the week on the right hand side of this email (in green) to read all about that day's life options. No, it doesn't say, "Hang out on the pub patio" but you know that's always an option! You can check us out online (no, not the lavalife profile! I need to update it!) at http://www.urbanmixer.com. We live for your attention, so come on, give it up for us! Flex that finger and click it for the Urban Mixer team! Tell us about the fabulous time you had at one of our events, or tell us about an incredible upcoming event. Pictures...pictures are good, too. We'll show you ours if you'll show us yours...
