The Surgeon General warns that use of the UrbanMixer.com website can result in increased dating, socializing, and hipness. Longterm use is associated with feelings of euphoria and well-being, as well as a stunning profile in tight clothing. THIS FRIDAY, ENOTECA = VINOCENTRAL = WE KNOW YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT! All you Mixmasters and Mixmistresses are invited to a patented Urban Mixer Lunch May 6th from 12 to 1 (or longer if your schedule allows) @ Cioppino's Enoteca, 1129 Hamilton Street in the world's social singles' capital, lovely Yaletown. And yes, there's a patio! We don't just mix the menu, we mix the guests. We do promise not to toss you: friends don't treat friends like cheap salads (unless they like it like that). One of our talented, charming and decorative Urban Mixer hosts will welcome you individually and make the introductions. And between courses, we will move you in ways you've never been moved... unless you've been to one of our lunches before! Everyone shifts one place, so you'll always have new people to talk to. Check out the knockout menu that's gotten more compliments than JLo's new ass, and throw yourself into the sensuous culinary wonderland of your desire. Sorry, got carried away for a second. Italian does that to us. Also check out the primo Posterero — I mean, be sure to compliment Pino Posterero, the chef, on some of the best food on the Left Coast. Don't overlook the wine list (as if you would!) RSVP online before May 1st: $10 plus menu If you snooze and looze, RSVP online up to May 4th: $15 plus menu, because we know you're only human. If you leave it longer than that, though, you'll be SOL and stuck at Mr Tube Steak. Don't say we didn't warn you! WHAT YOU WANT Raj here, and as always I’ve got plenty of what you want: Vancouver’s best events pre-screened for maximum fabulosity. This is our humble weekly email of events for Monday, May 2nd, 2005. If your e-mail program is not co-operating and it’s just not working for you (and you wouldn’t be the first or last, but it happens to everyone sometime), hit http://www.urbanmixer.com/newsletters and drop me a line about the problem. Or just do like thousands of singles and get it on online at http://www.urbanmixer.com any time you want it. And you know you want it bad... WHAT YOU GET This week’s Urban Mixer events calendar is packed tighter than Pamela’s tee-shirt. Such a mammoth undertaking cannot be, er, undertaken alone. To put it bluntly, I need you. If your inner Emma Peel wants out, I say let that girl roam! If you’ve always fancied yourself Secret Agent Man, take up the nightvision goggles and go for it. Urban Mixer can’t exist in a vacuum, and it’s up to all of our special ops (or even pre-ops) to let us know what’s going on around town by emailing me at raj@urbanmixer.com. If your brother’s having an afterparty for U2 and five hundred thousand of their friends, let me know. If your talent-monkey neighbor is having an art opening in Railtown, send us the 411. If you and a bunch of your friends are going to line up at a theatre dressed like Star Wars characters... well, send us a picture. If we use your submission (and you can take that any way you like) you’ll be rewarded with one of our patented Urban Mixer tees. Now, getting Pam (or Hugh Jackman) into or out of it is up to you. I’m here for ya, baby! So why not throw me an email letting me know what you think of the new sound at Urban Mixer, what a great time you had at our last event, what you want to see more/less of (“skin” is an acceptable answer) or your cool ideas for the future of Urban Mixer. Like I’m going to come up with all these ideas on my own! That almost sounds like work! And coming up soon…a mystery competition for Urban Mixologists…all off the record, on the QT and very, very hush-hush. But you might be advised to switch from Smirnoff Ice to Skyy 90, straight up, just for training purposes over the next few weeks. TALK TO ME, BABY! EMAIL COMMENTS TO raj@urbanmixer.com! WHAT YOU DO: Here’s the operating instructions for this highly technical festivity scheduling apparatus. You can click our calendar of events right here. Or zip over to the right-hand side of the email, click on a day of the week (in green) and check out the possibilities. But wait, there’s more! Just like everyone on Lavalife, we can be checked out online at http://www.urbanmixer.com. Flex that finger and click it for the Urban Mixer team! Keep those cards and letters coming...well okay, keep those emails and jpegs coming. And the MP3s, but don’t tell Bono, k? We'll show you ours if you'll show us yours... We will be mixing up the tables between courses ensuring that you get to meet everyone. No pressure, no performance, just a relaxed social lunch. A fun group of people who will enjoy lunch and share great conversation. The SPECS:
About Cioppino's Enoteca: Enoteca — term used frequently in Italy for a wine shop with a significant range of high quality wines. Various enoteche in Italy offer tasting facilities and some serve food to accompany the wines–from mere appetite stimulating to the most ambitious haute cuisine. Cioppino's Enoteca won best new restaurant in 2000 for its bold, innovative trifecta: sushi and sashimi up front at the long marble counter; superb rotisseried, braised and roasted meats in the back; and the added authority of the city's best pasta boiler and a first-rate garde-manger for terrific salads. Exclaimed one judge, "There's enough surplus energy here to sell to California, the sushi lunches are centre-ice, and nothing gets past Pino Posterero (Chef and Proprietor) that isn't perfect." Many saluted the restaurant for its reasonable food prices, others for its "bang-up sake list" and its "lively patio." When: Friday, May 6h,
12:00PM - 1:00PM. RSVP and payment required prior to May 4th, 2005 to save your spot. Get the full 411 at http://www.urbanmixer.com/eventlistings.asp or
