Urban Mixer-uh-Mixer at Cassis
Bistro Tonight!
Okay, we're spoiled; we live in Vancouver, after all. Vancouver,
home of famous, fabulous, and fearless chefs who price their meals like
food, not Fragonards. Okay, we'll drop the alliteration. But we're all
about to get more spoiled, my friends, because Urban Mixer is having
their next Evening Mixer at the wicked new Cassis restaurant. The
powerfully magicked space was the birthplace of sugarandsugar, 420
West Pender, deep in the heart of downtown. The Spy shop was next
door. Ah, now you remember! We wonder about you sometimes.

From 5pm - 9pm you'll be mixing and mingling
with some of Vancouver's finest, and we don't mean the cops.
A miserly 10 dollars will get you beyond the velvet rope,
but only if you flex your finger and give Urban Mixer a click
right here to
RSVP. If you don't give us what we want, baby, you know
you'll be on that rope line, shelling out 15 at the door.
And after your disastrous Kentucky Derby bet, you need that
extra 5 bucks!
The green buys you access, aperitifs on special,
and appetizers. No, really, we'll stop
now. You'll also get to cast a lustful eye over the menu and
of course you can always order yourself dinner. You're a growing
boy/girl/undecided, after all.
Tell us about Cassis, you say. Sure, we're
easy. Cassis features cuisine Grandmère, which is
another way of saying it serves authentic, deeply tasty,
and completely unfussy fare. Chef Ben Côté,
along with partners Daniel McClintock and Sam Wilcox
(all under 25!) offer "food
which presents
pure flavour without excesses." Cuisine Grandmère
as Grandmère
used to make it, if your grandmère was a Parisian chef.
In a world of sculpted watermelon ices,
of low-carb beer, of lemongrass consommé, of, gawd
help us, Tofutti, there is Cassis. Leading the fierce resistance

It’s a pool party, people, but keep
your pants on; Urban Mixer is having billiards night on the
28th. One table is nice, normal, respectable billiards like
you’d find in any nice, normal, respectable biker bar.
The other is nice and nasty: miss a shot and you have to
take a shot. This could get gonzo, people, so wear something
washable, pack your belly full of carbs, and prepare for
the most decadent night of stickhandling you’ve ever
seen.
Stern, Grandfatherly Reminder: Don’t drink
and drive. Or cycle. Or, god forbid, rollerblade. Take the
cab convoy home so you’re around in the morning when
the Mister Hangover comes looking for you.

Ever wonder why it is so hard to meet people in
Vancouver? Well, we have decided that enough is enough! Come
and have a beer, a cocktail, or whatever suits you. Meet up
with your friends, make new ones and generally just hang out.
You can kick your feet up and relax, knowing that during the
week there is a friendly place to go. Let’s make Vancouver
the friendliest place to live in Canada. Come by yourself or
with a group, it doesn’t matter one way or the other.

to secure your space. A ten dollar in advance (online only)
or fifteen dollar at the door admission covers gameplay and
the first drink.
