2005-05-23 : Urban Mixer Events Calendar

Hey Vancouver !

You want it, and you want it bad. To make sure you get it at least twice a week, stick raj@urbanmixer.com into your address book. What you do with it after is up to you; we're just trying to make sure our masterful missives go to the right box. That way they won't get diverted to your junk folder, (and forced to keep company with the other junkies).

THE FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB IS YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB

DOH! Wrong club... You can forget that, you are now feeling sleeeepy... the previous words regarding an unmentioned club will forever disappear from your memory. While you're at it, this week we've got two Urban Mixer events in store for you so mark your calendar now and save yourself bigtime by registering online:

Evening Mixer, Wednesday, May 25th, 2005 ADD TO MY CALENDAR | REGISTER ONLINE

Billiards Night, Saturday, May 28th, 2005 ADD TO MY CALENDAR | REGISTER ONLINE

SAVE KYLIE!!! FIGHT BREAST CANCER!

Okay, so I don't like her either. But more than ten percent of women will be affected by breast cancer in their lives; here's a simple, sweet something you can do to help prevent and cure that cancer. Yes, really.

You've seen the pink and white packaging, the ribbons, the lipgloss and body lotions that send a percentage of sales to fight breast cancer. Now you can help yourself at the same time as helping the cause, just by buying some new pink and white M&M's. Fifty cents for each bag sold will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the premiere breast cancer charity in the world.

Sweet!!

... AND SINCE YOU'RE ALL STILL UNDER HYPNOSIS, LOOSE LIPS WON'T LOSE ME MY PINKIE

James Bond ain't got nuthin' on our secret agents. Little-known fact: the producers begged me to star in the next Bond flick, but my mission is here, hacking into Feenie's Blackberry and meeting event planners in smoky…er, patios. Neither rain nor rain nor more rain will prevent me and my highly-skilled team of ninja monkey operatives from finding, and listing, Vancouver's hottest live events for all our Urban Mixers. Nothing but the best for you people!

If you like the sound of "ninja monkey operative" just be the first to send us the 411 on a wild and/or wicked happening and win an all-cotton (Raj tested, mother approved) Urban Mixer T-Shirt

TALK TO ME, BABY! EMAIL COMMENTS TO raj@urbanmixer.com!

Here is Vancouver's happeningest event calendar. If it's all too much and you can't take it all at once, just pick and click a day of the week on the right hand side of this email (in green) to read it one day at a time, rather than in a huge chunk. It's not the size: it's how you use it.

Like all modern singles, we've got ourselves online at http://www.urbanmixer.com. We're Urban Mixer: Surf Us! Just press with that little finger, right…over…here. AH!

Give us an email, a click, a forward even! We're not proud. Tell us about the fabulous time you had at one of our events. Send us some cellcam shots! Show us the cutie we missed last week because we had our nose buried in a martini! We'll show you ours if you'll show us yours...

Supreme Grand Ninja Monkey

AWAS - McWilliams Wine Tasting

Evening Mixer at Cassis Bistro, Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

We are pleased to announce that we will be having our next event at Cassis Bistro. Located at 420 West Pender Street in downtown, Cassis serves honest, authentic, deeply tasty, and completely unfussy fare, or as Chef Ben Côté would say, "food which presents pure flavour without excesses".

Cuisine Grand mere as Grandmere used to make it.

That is, if your grandmere was a Parisian chef. Mine tends to throw everything in a pressure cooker and take it out once it’s all the same colour.

In a world of sculpted watermelon ices, of low-carb beer, of lemongrass consommé, of, gawd help us, Tofutti, there is Cassis. Leading the fierce resistance to food substitutes, Cassis offers the finest in old-fashioned authentically delicious real food. Where meals are meals and real men and women eat.

So you know you’re gonna like it!

Owned and operated by Ben Côté, Daniel McClintock and Sam Wilcox, all under 25, they along with their staff create a unique and fabulous dining experience. This bistro with a massive front window and very high ceilings was formerly the home of the original and renowned sugarandsugar gallery.

We look forward to having you join us at Cassis for the next Urban Mixer!

Ever wonder why it is so hard to meet people in Vancouver? Well, we have decided that enough is enough! On select days from 5pm to 9pm Urban Mixer will be holding an after work event. Come by after the workday is over and have a beer, a cocktail, or whatever suits you. Meet up with your friends, make new ones and generally just hang out. You can kick your feet up and relax, knowing that during the week there is a friendly place to go. Let’s make Vancouver the friendliest place to live in Canada. Come by yourself or with a group, it doesn’t matter one way or the other.

Urban Mixers, select days from 5pm onwards. Food will be served! Space is limited. To gain entry, please RSVP online to secure your space. A ten dollar in advance (online only) or fifteen dollar at the door admission covers appetizers and drink specials.

When: Wednesday, May 25h, 5:00PM - 9:00PM.
Location: Cassis Bistro, 420 West Pender Street, Vancouver (MAP)
Cost: $10 per person online before May 23rd, $15 thereafter.

Billiards Night at Automotive Billiards, Saturday, May 28th, 2005

It’s a pool party, people, but keep your pants on; Urban Mixer is having billiards night on the 28th. One table is nice, normal, respectable billiards like you’d find in any nice, normal, respectable biker bar. The other is nice and nasty: miss a shot and you have to take a shot. This could get gonzo, people, so wear something washable, pack your belly full of carbs, and prepare for the most decadent night of stickhandling you’ve ever seen.

Stern, Grandfatherly Reminder: Don’t drink and drive. Or cycle. Or, god forbid, rollerblade. Take the cab convoy home so you’re around in the morning when the Mister Hangover comes looking for you.

We look forward to having you join us at Automotive Billiards & Cafe in Yaletown for the Urban Mixer Billiards Night!
