2005-05-30 : Urban Mixer Events Calendar

We want you to read us like a book…or at least an email. If you can't,and the text is coming through as hieroglyphics or Pac Man ASCII or some godforsaken thing, you can always read the truth, the whole truth, and maybe a few PR-sourced exaggerations online at http://www.urbanmixer.com/newsletters. Let us know what the hell your problem is, and if it's actually related in some meaningful way to something that's our fault, we'll fix it for ya. Cuz that's just the sweet kinda ninja monkeys we are. You want it, and you want it bad. To make sure you get it at least twice a week, stick raj@urbanmixer.com into your address book. What you do with it after is up to you; we're just trying to make sure our masterful missives go to the right box. That way they won't get diverted to your junk folder, (and forced to keep company with the other junkies). MORE EVENTS THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT June is rocking and there's more Urban Mixer events than you can shake a stick at, should you be into stick-shaking. If you are, heck, we might even set up an event for that too! Here's a little taste of what we've finalized so far: Urban Mixer Junior Inline Skating, Saturday, June 4th,
2005 ... just to name a few (sorry folks, no stick-shaking announced yet). Sign up quick here, these events are here for a limited time only, and are going like hotcakes! NATIONAL ENQUIRER NO LONGER ACCEPTS YOUR PHONECAM PIX? That whole blackmail thing didn't work out. And you can't really see Lindsay's face in the footage you got in the men's room at Bar None. So what are you gonna do with all these phonecam pix??? You're gonna enter them in the ZeD VIDFEST Phonecam Challenge, that's what you're gonna do! But you'd better do it fast, because the closing date is June 1, giving you precisely one day. Details are here: http://zed.cbc.ca/vidfest and this is what they have to say about it: Project: "Interact" In the name of fame, fortune, and of course art, we challenge you to fuse form and function through the cell phone medium. So start snapping and send us your phonecam images because the Grand Prize Winner gets 500 bucks in cold, hard Canadian cash. The theme is "interact". You're free to interpret this in whatever manner you see fit; however, we really don't need to see what you're up to in the boudoir, if you know what we mean. So that leaves out most of what I've got. Short form of official rules: take shots relating to "interact" on phonecam, email to photos@zed.cbc.ca, give them your name, location, regular email address and a short blog-like statement [blog-like??? Does it have to have blue bouncing kittens?] and realize that they're gonna post them up on their website for all the world to see, so be sure and wax first! Ah yes, and you have to be a Canadian citizen or landed immmigrant, so fear not those hordes of American snappers pouring across the border under cover of darkness. A WORD FROM THE GRAND NINJA MONKEY, HIMSELF James Bond ain't got nuthin' on our secret agents. Little-known fact: the producers begged me to star in the next Bond flick, but my mission is here, hacking into Feenie's Blackberry and meeting event planners in smoky…er, patios. Neither rain nor rain nor more rain will prevent me and my highly-skilled team of ninja monkey operatives from finding, and listing, Vancouver's hottest live events for all our Urban Mixers. Nothing but the best for you people! If you like the sound of "ninja monkey operative" just be the first to send us the 411 on a wild and/or wicked happening and win an all-cotton (Raj tested, mother approved) Urban Mixer T-Shirt TALK TO ME, BABY! EMAIL COMMENTS TO raj@urbanmixer.com! Here is Vancouver's happeningest event calendar. If it's all too much and you can't take it all at once, just pick and click a day of the week on the right hand side of this email (in green) to read it one day at a time, rather than in a huge chunk. It's not the size: it's how you use it. Like all modern singles, we've got ourselves online at http://www.urbanmixer.com. We're Urban Mixer: Surf Us! Just press with that little finger, right…over…here. AH! Give us an email, a click, a forward even! We're not proud. Tell us about the fabulous time you had at one of our events. Send us some cellcam shots! Show us the cutie we missed last week because we had our nose buried in a martini! We'll show you ours if you'll show us yours... Raj Taneja, phone: (604) 313-7690

All skates start at the Yacht Lot, the marina parking lot at 500 block of Denman (one block north of [below] Georgia), near the Westin Bayshore. Bring your own skates or rent them close by from the rental shop on Denman. Helmets are mandatory. Yes, really. Wrist guards, knee pads, etc. are optional but recommended. Trust me, I’ve still got road rash from two years ago. Other than that, just be sure to swaddle your dangly bits and you’re good to go. Newbie skate is Saturday, June 4th, 5pm. We’re not pushing it; we’ll just go to either the Totem Poles or Prospect Point, depending on how hardcore our newbies are. After that, we’ll do a sweaty post-victory lap at ice-cool Bravo Bistro down on the waterfront, back near the starting point. Intermediate skaters head out on Saturday, June 11th, 3:00PM. Starting from the Yacht Lot, we’ll wind around the Park to Second Beach and beyond (shades of Buzz Lightyear!) and do our afterpartying at Pacific Crab Co., the new Fat Burger on Denman or at Carlos and Buds depending on the mood of the group and who retains enough glucose in their brains to make a decision at that point. Hardcore sk8erz head out on Sunday, June 12th, 4:00PM.
We’re tough, we can take it, so we’ll go long and hard,
looping Stanley Park, cruising past English Bay and winding down
in Yaletown. We’ll hit the patio at LilyKate like she’s
never been hit before. The infamous Silver Sage's Flame may be involved
at some point in the festivities, and so may many tall “yes,
just skated up from Tierra del Fuego with my buds” tales. What: Junior Inline Skating RETURN TO SIDEBAR | MORE INFO | ADD TO MY CALENDAR | REGISTER ONLINE
