2005-06-17 : Urban Mixer Events Postponed

Somebody take care of that rain thing! Isn't it supposed to be summer? It IS June after all, so those of you who've been crushing spiders, naughty naughty!

Speaking of naughty, we've postponed strapping on those bondage-inspired wrist guards to Sunday. Yup, come down and rollerblade with us Sunday at 5PM. And if you wanted to Grind, well, it's no fun Grinding when it's soggy so we've also moved the event to the 25th - the weather people guarantee some sunlight so let's hold them accountable. Blackmail photos can be e-mailed to me and I'll hold on to them so they have no option but to deliver sun.

Urban Mixer Intermediate Inline Skating , Sunday, June 19th 2005

In-line skating is in season, and so are we. We know we look hot in those bondage-inspired wrist guards! And you can wear much skimpier clothing at ten mph because the net exposure to any pedestrian is factored over time…the faster you go, the faster you can look without getting arrested! Skating is the most fun you can have with (some of) your clothes on!

All skates start at the Yacht Lot, the marina parking lot at 500 block of Denman (one block north of [below] Georgia), near the Westin Bayshore. Bring your own skates or rent them close by from the rental shop on Denman. Helmets are mandatory. Yes, really. Wrist guards, knee pads, etc. are optional but recommended. Trust me, I’ve still got road rash from two years ago. Other than that, just be sure to swaddle your dangly bits and you’re good to go.

Intermediate skaters head out on Sunday, June 19th, 5:00 PM. Starting from the Yacht Lot, we’ll wind around the Park to Second Beach and beyond (shades of Buzz Lightyear!) and do our afterpartying at Pacific Crab Co., the new Fat Burger on Denman or at Carlos and Buds depending on the mood of the group and who retains enough glucose in their brains to make a decision at that point.

Urban Mixer Grouse Grind Event, Saturday, June 25th, 2005

Ever wanted to do the Grouse Grind but never found a chance to grind it with anyone? How about just doing the grind with a bunch of social, like-minded people? Well...look no further!!!! Urban Mixer isproud to present its first annual Grouse Grind where we will take you to the top, won't make you drop, and ensure there is a beer stop. That's right, after the climb, your sherpas will guide you to the nearest

npatio where you can enjoy a gorgeous view of beautiful Vancouver while,of course, mixing and mingling with your fellow hikers. Pleasebe sure to dress appropriately for this event (i.e. appropriate footwear and clothing) as this will make your climb more enjoyable. Cost: $20 if RSVP and payment is received before June 13th, $25 thereafter. PS - Cost of the ride down is included in the admission fee.

Too popular for you own good? I know that feeling! If you look at Vancouver’s smorgasbord of social clubs and wonder which are your soul-kin, then come to our first annual Social Event Showcase. All of Vancouver’s best mixers and minglers will be there with their posses, hoping to woo you. If you’ve ever wondered if Campoverde is a Sicilian horserace, if you’ve ever confused VAML with something your cousin once had a prescription for, you should come get a few things cleared up. And bring your cousin, too, if he’s better.

Ten bucks will hold your spot and jump you past the lineup, but only if you RSVP by June 15th. After that, you’ll be on that rope line and you’d better have fifteen in your hand or the door nazi won’t even see you.

We look forward to having you join us at Crush Champagne Lounge to mix, mingle and check out what this town has to offer!

Ever wonder why it is so hard to meet people in Vancouver? Well, we have decided that enough is enough! Come and have a beer, a cocktail, or whatever suits you. Meet up with your friends, make new ones and generally just hang out. You can kick your feet up and relax, knowing that during the week there is a friendly place to go.
